The 2009 High-density Garden Blog – Week 4/5

gardenweek5This week is attack of the climbers! The pole beans have exploded and are quickly making their way up the tomato cage I provided for them. They are also looking lustily at the hanging garden’s wooden A-frame. The snow peas are also making their way skyward by way of the tomato cage in their pot. They are not quite as adventurous as the beans prefer to stay closer to the cage.

We finally have day time temperatures in the mid 80s, and the tomatoes are very happy about the heat! All of the tomato plants now have blooms. The peppers have blooms and tiny peppers and the one pepper is actually pretty big!

The moisture indicators that came with the new tomato hangers are working well. We need to water about every other day at this point (although we have had a lot of rain). As we enjoy these warmer temperatures I am sure we will need to water more often and possible even every day.
