EOTI Refit: Cushions, Bimini, and Pedestal Cover

Getting the interior and exterior cushions done on EOTI was an interesting process. Creative Canvas here in Fort Lauderdale was asked if they could do the work. I got their contact information from Just Catamarans. We had an interesting meeting on the boat where they took pictures, talked about materials, and went through the process. Since the exterior cushions were worst off we started with them, but soon realized that everything would have to be done.

As part of the process the team at Creative Canvas discussed numerous options with us on material, choice of colors, patterns, and wear characteristics. In the end we decided on a heavy weight Sunbrella heather beige material. This is an outdoor material that has a heavy duty wear character. Since we live on the boat we decided to go with a heavy material that just happened to match our dog in color.

The original color was a dark blue almost black fake leather material. This material was slick, moving from a port to starboard tack and you could slide out of the dining area on to the floor. With nothing to brace sitting in the salon chairs a starboard to port tack would launch you onto a posterior reclining position.

Of all the changes we’ve made to the boat to make it move livable this one is likely the most substantive. Other things we changed along the way were more splashy but this one effects how we live the most. I think the change of the stove in the near future will also make a significant change. The following are the pictures showing old versus new where we have them.
