I got asked about this a lot over the last week and thought I would announce it here. I am very honored to be the recipient of this award and look forward to the relationships and doors that it opens for me. I also have to thank Marcus Rogers, Sandy Amass, Dean Larson, Bill Foley, Pam Altonel and so many others that have helped me along the way. No scientist or researcher works in a vacuum or without others. It always is a team effort.
Here is what ran in my home paper:
Man earns scholarship from Homeland Security
Samuel Liles, of Porter, was one of seven Purdue University graduate students awarded research scholarships through the university’s Homeland Security Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics Career Development program announced Monday.
Liles studies technology at the West Lafayette campus.
The awards are designed to support homeland security research. Recipients of the scholarships from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are eligible for $27,600 a year or a maximum of $82,800 over three years. The recipients will spend their first year after completing the program working in a research laboratory at a facility sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
