I know they likely realize this but many of the technologies that are used for going north will actually help in the Caribbean. The insulation along with hydronic heating and chilling all make the aluminum cat a superior comfy space in the heat and the cold. Glass cats bridge decks require significant insulation when going north.  Though my experience is limited. I’ve done some Alaska cruising but only like 10 seasons so not much. Water temps cause significant condensation in cold climates.

I’d also point out from the ‘Merican perspective most of Europe is north of the USA. You all in Europe like England and stuff are way up there in the unwashed north. Juneau Alaska and Tallinn Estonia are right at about the same Latitude. Spain, France, Italy are all north of 45 (Maine). To us Mericans y’all are in the fridge.

Most of the big cats that aren’t in charter are using hydronic systems. Delos installed one on their boat when going north, but if you spend time with the “luxury” cats and owner operated catamarans in the 50 foot plus group. Hydronic is the way most go. “The benefit” of some of the systems is they are also sealed (key component of hydronic systems) so you can heat without any seawater use too. Most of the chiller systems still use sea water for cooling.

I think if you compare this boat with the Leopard 50,  Outremer 50, the Mcconaghy 52, and Sunreef. 52 you see a significant cross section of the market. The Outremer is a great boat but it also a fickle mistress. You see with this boat like the Kinetic and H&G drives to carbon fiber go fast boats that break stuff on a good weekend. Whereas the Mcconaghy and Sunreef are built like tanks with performance. The swing keels on the Mcconaghy are amazing little bit of kit.

Myself I really like the Bluewater 50 and a few of the variants but I also like Bill Dixon designs in general. I was surprised they didn’t make many cross comparisons in weight and style across the other catamarans. I think this ExploCat is going to be a better boat than most regardless of where it goes because of how it was conceived. If they stay true to the quality and blue water requirements.
